ABC poem

Forgotten Path

Alone, I walk
Before me only darkness
Creeping into my soul
Deteriorating my happiness
Effortlessly it fades away
Fades out of reach
Gone forever
How I wish I could go back
I miss the way it was
Just you and me
Killing time together
Loneliness never found
Me when I was with you
Now I can’t seem to escape it
Overcoming everything I’ve known
Powerless in its wrath
Quiet is my only constant, so I try to
Run away from it all
Stumbling, I can’t seem to make it
To far from the finish
Underneath the heavy burden, I am
Victim to the everlasting loneliness
With only you on my mind
X marks the spot
Yet I will never make it, left only to look
Zealously for a way back to your heart

Diamond Poem

In Love
Powerful, beautiful
Embracing, captivating, infatuating
Eternal, warmth, desire, happiness
Cheating, breaking, hurting
Empty, sadness
Broken

Phrase Poem

Stars roll through the midnight sky
The air, crisp and clean
Shadows of the tall timbers outline the gravel path
The moon above us, white as a pearl, glows effortlessly
A whisper escapes your breath
Ending the silence that had earlier surrounded us
The wind picks up, howling through the forest
Goosebumps rise on my arms
You grab my hand as we quicken our pace
The path before us, twisted and never-ending

Terza Rima

I wish you could take me away
All I want is to get out of this place
In your arms I would rather stay

Can’t you see it in my broken face
I’m coming undone, fraying at the ends
Only you can save me with your grace

So maybe a hand you could lend
To pull me back to you, forever
Piece by piece my heart you could mend

Because with you, I feel as light as a feather
A spirit unbroken, eyes that light up all for you
The idea of us, so very clever

So lets run away, and together we can forget all we ever knew

Prose

The wind whips around my sun-kissed hair as we travel down this beaten path. Our final destination a mystery to me, but your coy smile hints you know where your hand is leading me. The air is brisk, for summer is coming to a close. "We're almost there," you gently whisper in my ear, sending shrills up and down my neck. I look up at the winding trail, curiosity itching its way into my mind. You give my hand a slight squeeze, bringing my focus back to you. Those sea foam eyes get me every time you know, it's impossible to look away. You quicken your pace, sending a slight rush throughout my veins. As we turn the final corner, a mere gasp escapes my hushed breath. The beauty of the scene before me, indescribable. Close to the most breathtaking thing I've ever seen, second only to those eyes of yours. The setting sun casts shadows of pink and deep purple across the sky as we look out over the Bunyan trees. We sit on a broken rock and watch the silent forrest below us. You wrap me up in your sweatshirt, and once again lean in, whispering sweet nothings in my ear as the rest of the world begins to fade away.

Sonnet

You grab my hand as I begin to walk away
The butterflies refuse to rest in my heart
Now, with you I will forever stay
Our souls never to be apart
Pulling me into your arms, all I want is you
For in them i'm intertwined between your world and mine
What was old is once again new
And everything is in a perfect line
You wrap your hands around my neck and kiss me
Effortlessly, as the rain comes pouring down us
As if going blind, I can no longer see
I'm lost between love and lust
Our lips separate but I'm not ready to leave
Because with you, I have a reason to believe

Fast Forward

I feel like life is passing me by
The past year on constant fast forward
How i wish I could rewind
Stay in those happy moments
Maybe pause for a while
At the times that took my breath away
For now I feel everything is a constant rush
A sprint when it should be a stroll
I'm not ready to leave
Not ready to go

Real World

The wind takes me
Out of my element
Away
From the world
I've learned to know
Into
A place where only you
Can see me
Touch me
How I wish this place
Could be reality
For in the real world
You don't even know
My name

Lost at Sea

Lost at sea
My mind floats in and out of thoughts
Of you and me

The waters are calm
Perhaps this time
I will find my way home
To you and me

But as if it could sense my smile
The waves come crashing in
On the mere thought
Of you and me

Maybe we were always meant to be
Lost at sea
Forever, you and me

Ekphrasis

Descent to the Mediterranean

Walking alone
In a world where you are only one
Nonexistent, in the big picture

In your eyes you are something
But to others, you are
Nonexistent, in the big picture

Maybe one day you will find someone
To walk with you, hand in hand, and together you will be
Nonexistent, in the big picture

Sestina

The End

The curtain falls
On your mystifying, crazed act
You look about the empty room
To find all but teddybears sitting up in a line
You whimper as tears start
Trinkling, one by one down your face

Smearing the mascara across your face
You begin to realize how far you have fallen
Where could you even begin to start
To try and fix this ugly act
Throwing the bears all out of line
You walk over to the lonely mirror in the room

The glass is shattered, no more room
For failure on your lonely face
You have stepped across the line
Now all you can do is continue to fall
Putting on a smile, you act
Like nothing is wrong, a clean start

Making your way out, you start
Running towards his room
Thinking about him, the way he acted
Brings tears once again to your pale face
Walking in, you break, and fall
To the floor, seeing his pictures across the dresser in a line

"I will never leave you" was his favorite line
How he couldn't wait to start
Your life together, how in depth you fell
In love with that boy, in this very room
You collapse at the thought of his last goodbye
Here was the end of the final act

This was where the act
Of love and forever broke out of line
The last place you saw his smiling face
The tragic end to such a beautiful start
It brings nightmares, this horrible room
This is where he left you, where you began to fall

You decide it is time for your final act, decide not to start
But finish, for you yourself are out of line in this tragic room
Glancing at his framed face one last time, you know it is your time to fall

Numb

Numb
Tears drip down my face
Roll past my aching heart
And fall to the floor
I'm surprised I still have tears left
After all these months of sorrow
How I thought I was over you
You were dead in my heart
Vacant from my mind
Until the night
That fateful night
Your chose to pick up your phone
Dared to dial my number
I almost didn't pick up
Your voice struck me like a broken chord
The rush in my heart
Butterflies in my stomach
Immediately came over me once again
I hate you for it
My weaknesses you know all too well
I wish you could see
Could feel
Could know
All the tears I've cried over you
All the sleepless nights I've spent
Rattling my brain for ways to make you love me
I wish you could understand the fact
That I would have done anything for you
Anything to make me good enough in your eyes
And now you think
You can just call and everything will be okay
But no
I'm done being your last resort
It's your turn to hurt
Your turn to feel the pain
For I cannot anymore
I am already numb

Clueless

Clueless

My phone beckons to play your ringtone
My ears long to hear your broken voice
My lips ache to feel the coolness of yours against them
My hands reach out to lock fingers with yours
My eyes beg to see your smile one last time
Because don’t you know,
That my hearts been breaking ever since you said goodbye

Clockwork

Clockwork

Our time is wearing thin
I gave you my best
Now I know that will never be enough
I tried so hard to keep you here
Tick-tock-tick-tock
Too little time for never ending words
We’ve tried once too many
Never again will I be the one putting in the effort
For a contest with no reward
Tick-tick-tick-tick
It’s about to blow, everything we’ve every known
Don’t try and stop it
Were better off not knowing what could have been
What should have been
Tick
Tick
Boom
Everything is gone
No more us, together, forever
Now it’s just you, and me
The way it always will be

Bridge Jumping

Bridge Jumping

Awaiting your arrival
Go on, don’t be shy
I’m only cold at first
Give me some time and I’ll warm up to you quickly
Trust me, I won’t let you down
But wait-
Stop, don’t walk away
No need to be scared now love
Avoiding the jump for another day
Just let go and take the fall
For we both know
I am more than willing to catch you

Fallen

Fallen
We lay under a blanket
Of bright, lonely stars
Lost between them and us
I am falling
Falling like the stars above
Falling into your arms
Your eyes twinkle
As they gaze into my own
I search beyond them
Searching for reasons
What have we become?
Your fingertips strike the cold tips of mine
Still I fall
You move in closer, my body tenses
My heart beats faster and the stars fall harder
The wind breaks our overbearing silence
Eyes meet, hands interlock, lips touch
And just like that
The wind has stopped
The stars are still
Yes, you have me
I have fallen

Villanelle

Silence

Everything we had is dead
Rose petals fall in symmetry with my tears
All because of the words you never said

As I lay my broken self in bed
I long for only you my dear
Everything we had is dead

I replay your words over and over in my head
Our happy song has turned into my greatest fear
All because of the words you never said

Nowhere is the place I have been led
How I wish that you were near, but
Everything we had is dead

Oh the scandals and the lies you had me fed
Leaves me with no more torture to the ear
All because of the words you never said

I’m shutting the book of our story I’ve read
What a waste of a blissful year, for
Everything we had is dead
All because of the words you never said

Acrostic Poem

River
Round the corner, with thundering speed
I gather momentum knowing the end is near
Violently I make a move to the straightaway, for
Even the wind cannot catch me now
Running like a thrashing river, I reach the finish line, and the rage is over

Extended Metaphors

Lost and Found
You are my compass
Keeping you close at heart, my safety net
When I get tangled too far south
Or go down a broken path
You bring me back to a fresh start - a new road
When I’m lost, or just simply can’t find my way
You beckon me to a place I call home, your arms

I will carry my compass with me wherever I go.

Leftovers

I’m left here to sit and mold
You picked over the better parts of me
Store the remains wherever you please
I’m unwanted in your eyes
Throw me out when I begin to waste away
I wasn’t that important to you anyway

Fallen Vase

I’m broken and shattered
Don’t touch what is left of me
It hurts too much, I’m no longer whole
Just leave me and the chaos at rest
You know I’m not worth being pieced back together
Too much effort for too little reward
So stop trying to fix me
I’m better off broken

Treasure Chest
Sneak a peak of what I hold within
I dare you
You may look but don’t touch
I trust you
So take it all in while you can
I’ll miss you
Lock me back up on your way out
For my heart cannot take
No more

Today Is Poem

Today is a new beginning
Today is a fresh start to a decaying past
Today is a break in the ice
Today is an eraser preparing to rid of mistakes
Today is sunshine peaking through closed blinds
Today is an unopened box of surprises
Today is light at the end of a never ending tunnel
Today is the final teardrop rolling off my cheek
Today is a walk away from the blazing fire
And a walk towards the coming horizon
